I am a psychodynamic counsellor and offer once weekly long-term or time-limited counselling.

Psychodynamic counselling has its roots in psychotherapy and focuses on understanding our conscious mind with a view to bringing about an understanding of what lies in our unconscious minds too. Both the conscious and unconscious mind will have developed over time out of early relationships, environments & experiences formed during our early childhood years. Working psychodynamically includes making sense of how we think and as a result provides an opportunity to explore the way we behave.

My aim is to explore your issues by listening to you, so that together we may come to understand your thinking more fully.
I believe that through reflection and making links to past experiences, it presents us with a foundation from which to work in starting to make sense of what it is that has brought about your issues.

It is hoped that in piecing things together, we can then begin to understand how your past experiences may have influenced your thinking and how you behave in the present. Over time, the things we work through together could help you think about your life from a different perspective and in a way that is more helpful to your well-being for the future.

If, after an initial meeting, you decide you would like to work with me, we would meet weekly to talk through issues that you may wish to bring. I work empathically, in a non-judgemental way and provide a quiet, confidential setting.
